CI-Girt

Knight Wall Systems Inc. has launched CI-Girt, a rain-screen system that accommodates continuous rigid insulation on the exterior of a building, significantly increasing the structure’s energy efficiency.

Highlights

  • Allows for cladding attachment over continuous insulation—a requirement of ASHRAE 90.1
  • Saves money by reducing labor and materials costs; it eliminates the need to manually cut and fit the insulation around girts and requires fewer materials to reach the same insulation values
  • Offers superior moisture handling and thermal performance and reduced risk of condensation
  • Is adaptable to any façade or cladding system

Comments:

In the product example the wall system is thermaly bridged, We have found that the band wagon is very full of manufactures that have not tested the product to the claimes maid.

ASHRAE 90.1: Continuous Insulation-insulating continuously across all structural members without thermal bridges other than fasteners and service openings. No piece of the CI-Girt penetrates or breaks the continuity of the insulation other than fasteners; therefore it is continuously insulated by ASHRAE 90.1 standards. The thermal bridge created by the fasteners is considered to be negligible by ASHRAE 90.1, however do technically exist. None-the-less, the bridging is extremely far less than any known girt system on the market and therefore extremely efficient!
